Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Veyzo collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the Veyzo mobile app and this website.
Who we are
Veyzo is operated from Coventry, United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, including requests about your data, email hello@veyzo.org. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
What we collect
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name and email address, and the photo on your account if you sign in with Google or Apple | To create your account and let you sign back in |
| Shop details: shop name, address, opening information and shop photo | To show shoppers which shop a deal belongs to and where to collect it |
| What a shop puts into the app: products, expiry dates, prices, photos and deals | To run the app's core features |
| Reservations: which deal was reserved, when, and whether it was collected | To hold an item for you and let the shop know to expect you |
| Messages between a shopper and a shop | To deliver the message to the other side |
| A notification token for your device, if you allow notifications | To send the alerts you asked for, such as a new deal from a shop you follow |
| Your approximate location, if you allow it | To show deals near you on the map. Turning it down only means you sort and search manually |
| Crash and diagnostic reports | To find and fix faults in the app |
We do not ask for card or bank details. Payment for a reserved item happens in the shop, not in the app.
Why we are allowed to use it
- To provide what you asked for (performing our contract with you): your account, your listings, your reservations and your messages.
- Consent: push notifications and location. You can withdraw either at any time in your phone's settings.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and fixing faults.
- Legal obligations: where the law requires us to keep or disclose records.
Who else processes it
We use a small number of service providers, who process data only on our instructions:
- Google Firebase — sign-in, database, cloud functions, push notifications and crash reporting.
- Cloudinary — storing and serving product and shop photos.
- Mapbox — the map that shows nearby shops.
- Apple and Google — app distribution, and sign-in if you use it.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK, including in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by the safeguards those providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses and the UK addendum. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Account information is kept while your account exists. Delete your account in the app, under Settings, and we remove your account, your listings and your messages. Anonymous, aggregated figures, such as the total number of items sold before expiry, may remain, since they no longer identify anyone. Backups and logs are cleared on a rolling basis, normally within 90 days. We keep records longer only where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or move it elsewhere. Email hello@veyzo.org and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Children
Veyzo is not intended for children. Do not create an account if you are under 16.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules that limit each account to its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so if a breach affects your rights we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and anything significant is announced in the app.
